Iowa Public Library Statistics (2022-2023)

Iowa Public Statistics (Fiscal Year 2021-2022)

Updated statistics for the fiscal year 2021-2022. We are still a Level D library.

Iowa Public Library Statistics (Fiscal Year 2020-2021)

The FY21 (July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021) edition of Iowa Public Library Statistics includes information on income, expenditures, collections, circulation, staff, and several other measures. Each section is arranged by size code, then alphabetically by city. The totals, averages, and percentiles for each size code grouping are given immediately following the alphabetical listings. (The Bloomfield Public Library is a Level D library because Bloomfield's population is in the 2500 to 4900 range.)

Public library statistics are used at the local, regional, state, and national levels. They are used to compare library performance, justify budget requests, track library data over time, assist in planning and evaluation, and provide valuable information for grants and other library programs.

Because of COVID-19, 2020 and 2021 were very challenging years for public libraries. Use statistics were drastically down for many libraries because of long term closures. It is therefore very difficult if not impossible to compare 2020 and 2021 statistics to previous years.
